What a Session With MountainWed Feels Like
The goal is not to spend an hour performing for the camera. We’ll choose a place you actually want to be, give ourselves enough time to settle in, and make photographs while you’re doing something together.
I’ll give you direction when it helps—where to stand, where the light is good, when to walk or move—but I’m not interested in constantly arranging every hand, smile, or interaction. A lot of the best photographs happen in the space between those directions.
That might mean wandering a trail, having a drink somewhere in town, hanging out at your cabin, climbing around on rocks, or simply watching the sun go down together. The location should fit you, instead of making you fit the location.

Finding the Right Place
Your Session Doesn’t Have to Happen in One Kind of Place
The best location is usually somewhere that fits what you actually like doing together—not simply whichever overlook is getting the most attention online.
We can keep things close to Asheville, head farther into the Blue Ridge Mountains, or build the session around somewhere you’re already staying or spending time.
Mountain Overlooks + Trails
The Blue Ridge Parkway gives us everything from easy overlooks to longer walks into the mountains. If you want something higher and a little more dramatic, places like Craggy Gardens can work beautifully when the season, weather, and crowds cooperate.
Asheville + The River Arts District
Mountains aren’t required. Downtown streets, old brick, breweries, murals, and the River Arts District can make a session feel more like an afternoon together in Asheville than a traditional engagement shoot.
Cabins + Places You’re Staying
Sometimes the easiest place is also the most personal. A cabin, porch, fire pit, or rental with a mountain view gives us room to make photographs without immediately turning the session into an outing somewhere else.
Waterfalls + Forests
If you’d rather be under the trees than standing on a ridgeline, Western North Carolina has plenty of forest and waterfall options. We can choose something based on how far you want to walk, the season, water levels, access, and how much privacy makes sense.

Couples + Engagement FAQ
A Few Things You Might Be Wondering
You do not need to know what to wear, where to go, or what you are supposed to do in front of the camera before booking. We can figure that part out together.
What should we wear?
Start with clothes you actually feel comfortable wearing. Layers are especially useful for mountain sessions because temperatures can change quickly. I generally recommend avoiding large logos or very busy patterns, and I’m happy to look over options with you before the session.
When is the best time for photos?
For mountain sessions, the hour or two around sunrise or sunset usually gives us the most interesting light. The exact timing depends on the season, elevation, weather, and where the mountains block the sun, so I’ll help choose a time that works for the location instead of using the same start time everywhere.
Can we bring our dog?
Usually, yes. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a dog-friendly location and think through things like leash rules, trail conditions, water, and whether it makes sense to bring someone who can help for part of the session.
Do we need to be hikers or really outdoorsy?
Not at all. Some sessions involve a real hike, but plenty of mountain views are a short walk from the car. We’ll choose something that fits how you actually want to spend your time outside rather than making the session harder than it needs to be.
Can you help us choose the location?
Yes. Tell me whether you are imagining mountains, waterfalls, Asheville, a cabin, something easy to access, or something with a little more hiking involved. I’ll help narrow the options based on season, light, access, crowds, and what fits the two of you.
When will we get our photographs?
I’ll send a small preview shortly after the session, followed by your complete edited online gallery. If your session includes film, those scans may take a little longer to come back from the lab and will be added once they are ready.
