Asheville + Western NC + Blue Ridge Mountains
Film + Digital Elopement Photography in Asheville
For couples who want mountain photos that feel real — with a handful of 35mm or 120mm film frames worked in for texture, color, and a slower kind of magic.
Film + digital coverage
Digital for the full story. Film for the slower, more intentional parts.
I’m an Asheville-based elopement and small wedding photographer offering a mix of digital and film coverage across Western North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
If you’re looking for an Asheville film elopement photographer, I shoot digital for the full story of the day and weave in 35mm film — and sometimes medium format — for a more timeless, textured, analog feel.
What that means
Digital makes sure the full day gets covered. Film gets used more intentionally for portraits, quieter in-between moments, and the frames that deserve to slow down a little.
Who this is for
- Couples who love film color and texture
- People who want photos with heart
- Anyone drawn to work that feels warm, honest, and less polished
Why film
Film lets the grain show up a little. It lets highlights bloom. It’s less about perfection and more about making something that feels tangible, real, and a little mysterious.
Good fit
If you like the idea of slowing down for a few frames and coming away with a gallery that feels warm, real, and not overly polished, film fits right in. Reach out here if you want to talk through what hybrid film + digital coverage could look like for your day.
Film photography, on purpose
A slower camera can be a really good thing.
I shoot digital constantly. It’s fast, flexible, and it’s the best way to cover the full story of an elopement or wedding day without missing a beat.
Film is different. It asks me to slow down, pay closer attention to the light, and make the frame with a little more intention. I love that shift, and I love sharing that process with couples.
How I use it
Digital covers the full story. Film usually comes out for portraits, quiet in-between moments, and scenes that feel like they deserve a little extra attention.
Why I like it
With an old camera in my hands, I’m thinking about the film I loaded, the light, the shadows, and whether the moment is worth the frame. It’s a fun creative reset.
What it adds
Film brings natural color, texture, grain, and a softer edge. It does not replace digital — it just adds another layer to the story.
I include film in most of my packages because I genuinely love making it. If you’re especially excited about the analog look, reach out and we can talk about adding more film into your elopement or small wedding coverage.
How film fits in
Film gets woven into the day. It does not take it over.
Film does not mean we stop everything for an hour-long photoshoot. Most of the time, it’s a few intentional moments worked into the flow of the day.
Digital covers the full story. Film adds a slower, more intentional layer where it makes sense.
Where film usually shows up
- A few minutes when the light feels right.
- Simple portraits with natural direction.
- Quiet in-between moments throughout the day.
What you’ll receive
- A full digital gallery that tells the complete story.
- A curated set of film frames mixed into the final gallery.
- Film scans edited to feel cohesive with the rest of your photos.
If film is a priority for you, tell me early. I’ll build it into the timeline intentionally instead of squeezing it in randomly. Reach out here if you want to talk through what hybrid coverage could look like.

Film photography FAQ
A few quick answers about film coverage.
I shoot both 35mm and 120mm film alongside digital coverage. Digital carries the full story, and film gets added where it makes the most sense.
Here are the questions couples usually have once they realize film can be part of the day.
Is film included, or is it an add-on?
It depends on the package. I include film in many of my packages, and I can also offer it as an add-on if you want to keep things simple but still get that analog layer.
If you inquire, I’ll help you choose the option that fits your day, your timeline, and how much film matters to you.
How many film photos will we get?
Enough to matter, but not so many that film becomes the whole point of the day.
Film is intentionally a more selective part of the gallery. Once I know your timeline, location, and what you’re drawn to, I can give you a clearer expectation.
When will we receive the film photos?
Film has to be developed and scanned, so it is not instant. My goal is always to deliver film and digital together in your final gallery whenever possible.
If lab timing, roll completion, scanning, or editing creates a small delay, I’ll be clear about that so you’re not left guessing.
Can we do mostly film coverage?
Possibly, especially for shorter days or portrait-focused coverage. Most couples still choose a film + digital blend because it keeps the storytelling complete.
I have not had many couples ask for mostly film coverage, but I’m happy to explore it if that’s what you’re dreaming about.
Will being photographed on film feel awkward?
Not at all. You do not need to know what to do. I’ll give simple direction when it helps and leave space for real moments when it does not.
The main difference is that a few film frames take a little more care with settings, focus, and composition. It is a minor shift overall, and usually a really nice one.
Do you choose locations based on film?
Not exactly. I choose locations based on the experience, light, access, scenery, weather, privacy, and what fits your day.
But once we are there, I can usually tell when film is going to shine — color, shadows, texture, flowers, wardrobe, landscape, or a quiet moment that just feels right for the medium.
The easiest thing: tell me early if film is a priority. I’ll help build it into the day naturally, instead of trying to force it in. Reach out here if you want to talk through what hybrid film + digital coverage could look like.
