The photographer behind MountainWed

Hey, I’m Andy.

I’m the photographer behind MountainWed.

I’m an Asheville-based photographer, location scout and planning partner for couples who want their wedding to feel more like an experience than a production. I love helping people find incredible places, make a plan that actually feels manageable, and then giving them the space to enjoy the day while I document what happens.

Elopements + Small Weddings

Get married your way. I’ll help you figure out the mountain part.

Whether it’s just the two of you or a wedding with the people you love, I photograph days built around actually spending time together.

I can help with locations, timing, permits, weather, backup plans and the logistics of getting everyone where they need to be.

Film + Digital Photography

The experience comes first. The photos follow.

Mostly documentary, with direction when you need it. I’ll step in when a portrait needs some help, then get out of the way when the good stuff is already happening. You’ll get the big views, your people, the weather, the details and the moments you didn’t see.

“If you're looking for an Asheville elopement photographer who is down with whatever crazy outdoorsy wedding you are dreaming up, Andy is your guy.”

Local Knowledge

Great photos need more than a great view.

Light, privacy, weather, road conditions, trail access and where the sun sets all affect how a place photographs. I’ve spent years scouting waterfalls, trails and overlooks around Asheville and beyond so we can choose a place—and the right time to be there—for great photos.

But it also has to work for you. You don’t need to be a big hiker to get married in the mountains. Whether you’re up for a trail or would rather find a beautiful overlook, quiet ceremony spot or easy picnic location, I’ll help find somewhere that feels private, beautiful and actually fits the people coming with you.

Start Here

Tell me what you’re thinking.

You don’t need a location, timeline or every detail figured out. Tell me what you know so far, what kind of day you’re imagining, and I’ll help you figure out what comes next.

I personally read every inquiry and typically respond within 24 hours.

Film + Digital

Digital for the whole story. Film for a little extra magic.

I photograph the full day digitally and bring film along because sometimes the grain, color and slower pace just fit the moment. You get both in the finished gallery.

Kind Words

  • A same-sex couple in formal attire stands on top of a white Jeep vehicle in a forest with tall trees. The woman on the left wears a white dress and a brown fur shawl, and her partner wears a dark green suit. The sunlight filters through the trees.

Hands down the best experience working with Andy. From the planning and timeline of the day, to the creativity with photos, lighting and location. His flexibility, passion, and energy throughout the entire day and evening was absolutely phenomenal. He helped capture our energy and day in ways we will never be able to truly explain as anything but breath-taking!

  • A couple dressed in wedding attire walking hand in hand through a wooded outdoor area with tall trees and rocky terrain.

We loved everything about our experience with Andy! We are not posers and Andy was great in directing us all while making it fun. The pictures turned out amazing! My only issue is choosing just one or two pictures to hang on the wall! We definitely recommend Andy for his knowledge of the area, the quality of his work, and his wonderful personality. Thanks Andy for capturing our special day!

  • An african-american bride and groom standing outdoors by a body of water and rocks, holding a sign that says 'MR & MRS', with green foliage in the background.

Andy has a real talent for capturing natural moments and genuine emotions. Every pose felt effortless, and he guided us the whole time without ever making it feel forced. The photos came out beautiful, crisp, and full of life, exactly what we hoped for and more. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for such a special moment in our lives.
